Dengue fever is an acute infectious disease caused by Aedes mosquito-borne dengue virus. It is mainly transmitted by Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus. It is characterized by acute onset, fever, general muscle, bone, and joint pain, extreme fatigue, rash, enlarged lymph nodes, and decreased white blood cells and platelets.
