Vitamin A deficiency

Vitamin A is a substance necessary to maintain the integrity of all epithelial tissues. Among them, the epithelium of the eyes, respiratory tract, digestive group, urethra and reproductive system has the most significant effect. When vitamin A is deficient, the epithelium is dry, proliferative and dissolving. Vitamin A promotes growth and development. When it is lacking, reproductive function declines, bone growth is poor, and growth and development are hindered. So far, the relationship between vitamin A and epithelial dissolution and growth is unclear. In addition, vitamin A is a component that constitutes the light-sensitive substance in the visual cells. When vitamin A is lacking, the sensitivity to low light is reduced, dark adaptation disorders, and night blindness in severe cases.
