exercise asthma

Introduction

Introduction Typical exercise asthma usually occurs within five to five minutes after exercise. Symptoms include cough, asthma, chest tightness, and even chest pain. Other symptoms, such as a sudden onset of shortness of breath, may occur five to ten minutes after exercise. At the same time of strenuous exercise, because the amount of ventilation increases rapidly, the air directly enters the bronchial from the mouth, and the dry and cold air directly stimulates the bronchial wall, and the bronchi thus produces paralysis, which leads to the onset of asthma. In addition, if the sporting environment is floating too much air pollutants, pollen, second-hand smoke, or sports athletes with respiratory infections, it may trigger the onset of exercise-induced asthma.

Cause

Cause

During normal breathing, after the air enters from the nose, the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity turns the dry and cold air into warm and humid air, and the air then enters the alveoli through the bronchi for gas exchange. However, at the same time of strenuous exercise, because the amount of ventilation increases rapidly, the air directly enters the bronchial from the mouth, and the dry and cold air directly stimulates the bronchial wall, and the bronchi thus produces paralysis and causes asthma. In addition, if the sporting environment is floating too much air pollutants, pollen, second-hand smoke, or sports athletes with respiratory infections, it may trigger the onset of exercise-induced asthma.

Respiratory exercise examination

The diagnosis of exercise asthma is mainly based on medical history and post-exercise lung function tests. Physicians can test the changes in lung function of athletes before exercise, during different periods of exercise, and after exercise has stopped by a respirometer that measures lung function. If the value of forced expiratory volume in the first second is reduced by 12 to 15 percent than the pre-exercise value, it means that the athlete is very likely to suffer from exercise-induced asthma.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

Asthma refers to the symptoms of difficulty breathing and suffocation. Due to the external feelings of cold, wind and heat, or evil heat blazing, sipping drinking lungs, lung and kidney qi deficiency. In addition to lung, heart disease, common asthma, throat or thoracic lesions, warm diseases, intra-abdominal tumors or stagnant water, etc., fatigue, disease, etc. can also be seen asthma.
