crowded teeth

Introduction

Introduction Crowded crowds are the most common of malocclusions, which can be characterized by misalignment of tooth crowding; the incidence of caries and periodontal disease in crowded teeth is higher than that of normal teeth. The same crowded dentition has a very obvious effect on the appearance. In severe cases, it is difficult to close the lips and form open lips and teeth. Crowded dentition has obvious genetic characteristics, from the crowded dislocation of individual teeth or the crowding of most teeth, and even the degree of torsion of a tooth can have the same performance in the parent and offspring.

Cause

Cause

Causes of crowded dentition

1. Genetic factors: Crowded crowds have obvious genetic characteristics, from the crowded dislocation of individual teeth or the crowding of most teeth, and even the degree of twist of a certain tooth, can have the same performance in the parents and offspring. This genetic trait is objective, but its detailed genetic mechanism is still not fully understood.

2. Failure during the replacement period: The failure of the replacement period is a common cause of crowding of the teeth. For example, due to the early loss of the deciduous teeth, the adjacent teeth are moved forward to occupy the missing tooth gap, resulting in insufficient gaps in the permanent teeth eruption time and dislocation. Another example is the retention of deciduous teeth, which can cause successive permanent teeth to be erroneous.

3. Insufficient development of the jaw: The lack of development of the jaw causes a large amount of bone mass to be irregular, and the teeth cannot be arranged neatly in the alveolar, and the crowd is misplaced.

4. Too large teeth: Due to the excessive width of the teeth in the near and far, the teeth may be crowded and misaligned.

5. Bad habits: Some bad oral habits, such as children's fingers, mouth breathing, etc., can cause the arch of the jaw to narrow or affect the development of the jaw, and the teeth are crowded.

Crowded examination diagnosis

1. Small bone mass: the tooth has a normal width in the near and far direction, and the length of the arch is insufficient. In particular, the development of the anterior maxilla tends to cause crowding of the maxillary anterior teeth.

2. Large amount of teeth: As the upper anterior teeth area has more teeth or the tooth width is too large, the dentition is crowded.

3. Indexing: For the purpose of clinical diagnosis, the crowded dentition is generally divided into light, medium and heavy according to the severity of its crowding.

Mild crowding (I°) The gap between each arch is less than 5mm.

Moderately crowded (II°) The gap between each arch is less than 10 mm.

Severe crowding (III°) The gap between each arch is more than 10mm.

Differential diagnosis

Congestive and confusing symptoms

1. The small amount of bone is normal in the near and far diameter of the teeth, and the length of the arch is insufficient. In particular, the development of the anterior maxilla tends to cause crowding of the maxillary anterior teeth.

2. The amount of teeth is as large as the dentition formed in the anterior region of the jaw and the tooth width is too large.

3. Indexing For the purpose of clinical diagnosis, the crowded dentition is generally divided into light, medium and heavy according to the severity of its crowding.

Mild crowding (I°) The gap between each arch is less than 5mm.

Moderately crowded (II°) The gap between each arch is less than 10 mm.

Severe crowding (III°) The gap between each arch is more than 10mm.
