Photophobia and tears
Introduction
Introduction Photophobia and tearing are prominent, and foreign body sensation is a clinical manifestation of corneal foreign body. Foreign bodies entering the pupil area can cause visual impairment. Corneal foreign body refers to an ophthalmologic emergency caused by accidental entry of foreign bodies such as gray foam, small insects, metal fragments and sawdust into the cornea of the eye.

The cause of photophobia and tearing:
(1) Air dust and small insects fall into the eye.
(2) Broken shells in grains.
(3) Accidental explosion of industrial or mining or explosive debris during wartime splashes into the eyes.
(4) The small pieces of metal thrown by the grinding wheel fly into the eye.

Diagnosis of photophobia and tearing
[clinical manifestations]
Foreign body sensation, photophobia and tearing are prominent, and foreign bodies entering the pupil area can cause visual impairment.
[Diagnostic points]
(1) There is a foreign body entering the medical history of the eye.
(2) Clinical manifestations such as foreign body sensation, photophobia and tearing, foreign body entering the pupil area can cause visual impairment.
(3) There is deep congestion of the limbus at the time of physical examination. If there is no infection, the cornea has a gray-white infiltration ring around the foreign body.
(4) Foreign matter can be found in the cornea. When the depth of the cornea with foreign matter cannot be determined, it can be examined by slit lamp microscope.

Differential diagnosis
Photophobia and tearing should be differentiated from the following symptoms:
1. Photophobia: seen in congenital aniridia or iris defect, traumatic or drug-induced dilated pupils, albinism, brain tumor, meningitis, subarachnoid hemorrhage, migraine, trigeminal neuralgia, neurasthenia, and quinine , bismuth, iodine, pesticide and other poisoning. 2. Tears: can be seen in chronic lacrimal gland inflammation, Mikldiez syndrome, external punctum, obstruction of lacrimal duct, tears and tears, bronchial asthma, acute rhinitis, cluster headache, drug-induced irritation.
3. Photophobia and tears coexist: seen in corneal epithelial damage, inflammation and foreign bodies, conjunctivitis, iris eyelashes, after eye surgery, measles, whooping cough, influenza and so on.
