Cause

Cause

The elderly have tooth loss or use of dentures, chewing function is poor, the mouth feels less sensitive, and it is easy to accidentally swallow. Pediatric molars are incomplete, and the bad habits of foods that are not fully chewed or have small playthuffs are common causes of esophageal foreign bodies in children. In addition, the condition of the esophagus itself, such as esophageal stricture or esophageal cancer, causes the lumen to become thinner, which is also one of the causes of esophageal foreign body. Esophageal foreign bodies are most common at the entrance to the esophagus, followed by the middle esophagus, which is rare in the lower segment. Foreign body species such as fish bones, meat bones, chicken and duck bones are the most common. Clinical manifestation

1. Difficulty swallowing.

4. The neck is swollen and tender.

Diagnose based on:

1. Have a history of foreign bodies.

2. Swallowing pain and difficulty. Neck, back pain in the sternum.

3. X-ray examination: opaque foreign matter can be seen, light-transparent foreign matter barium meal inspection.

4. Esophagoscopy can confirm the diagnosis.

5. Pay attention to complications such as esophagitis, mediastinal inflammation, mediastinal abscess and major bleeding.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

Esophageal foreign body often occurs in young children and the elderly lack of teeth, often because of the contents of the mouth to play, eating too fast, swallowing, the old man's false teeth chewed when feeling insensitive, or loosening dentures when sleeping, and swallowed to form esophageal foreign bodies.

Note the differentiation from esophagus, tracheal cysts or tumors.
