The glottis is short and narrow

Introduction

Introduction Congenital small laryngeal direct laryngoscopy showed that the structure of the throat is small. The diameter of the subglottic cavity of normal infants is 5.5-6 mm. Due to abnormal development and narrow subglottic cavity, it is called congenital subglottic stenosis. It is blocked on one side or both sides of the lower wall of the glottis. It is mostly elastic conical lesion, but it is also caused by abnormal cartilage. The disease is a congenital disease with no obvious cause. The common symptom is that the baby has a sound of breathing after birth, but the crying is normal. The degree of dyspnea depends on the obstruction condition. Cause

The disease is a congenital disease with no obvious cause. The common symptom is that the baby has a sound of breathing after birth, but the crying is normal. The degree of dyspnea depends on the obstruction condition. It is blocked on one side or both sides of the subglottic wall of the glottis. It is mostly elastic conical lesion, but it is also caused by abnormal cartilage. Severe stenosis can cause neonatal asphyxia. Children are often susceptible to respiratory infections or laryngitis, which is easily misdiagnosed as acute laryngotracheal bronchitis, which is blocked due to abnormal development and narrow glottic cavity.

Direct laryngoscopy revealed that the structures of the larynx were small and the glottis was short and narrow. The neck palpation of thyroid cartilage is also smaller than normal. The degree of dyspnea depends on the occlusion condition, and severe stenosis can cause neonatal asphyxia. Children are often susceptible to respiratory infections or laryngitis, which is easily misdiagnosed as acute laryngotracheal bronchitis. Those with a slightly smaller throat are generally asymptomatic. If there is inflammation, it can cause throat blockage. Apparently small, there is throat and breathing difficulties after birth, and the symptoms are similar to subglottic stenosis.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

The disease needs to be differentiated from subglottic stenosis.
