saddle nose

Introduction

Introduction The saddle nose is commonly known as the collapsed nose. It is a deformity in which the bridge of the nose is lower than normal and the back of the nose is concave to varying degrees. It is mostly caused by trauma, infection and congenital malformation. The basic principle of rhinoplasty is to fill the material in the area where the nose collapses, so that the bridge of the nose can be raised to the appropriate level to obtain the ideal nose shape.

Cause

Cause

Saddle nose. Can be divided into light, medium and heavy. The collapsed nose is lower than the normal height, and the nasal back is deformed in different degrees. However, the tip of the nose is saddle-shaped and hence the name. The saddle nose is caused by trauma, infection with syphilis, tuberculosis, etc. It is also seen in congenital malformations. Most of the traumatic saddle nose is a poorly treated nasal bone fracture, or due to excessive removal of cartilage by nasal septum.

Therefore, clinically, patients with saddle nose should be examined:

First, physical examination

Taking a medical history gives us a first impression and revelation, and also guides us to a concept of the nature of the disease.

Second, laboratory inspection

Laboratory examinations must be summarized and analyzed based on objective data learned from medical history and physical examination, from which several diagnostic possibilities may be proposed, and further consideration should be given to those examinations to confirm the diagnosis.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

diagnosis:

1. Congenital simple saddle nose survives;

2. Acquired history of trauma, infection and nasal septum surgery;

3. The bridge of the nose is flat or concave;

4. Nasal skin, mucous membrane, nasal bone, nasal septal defect or scar contracture, combined with nasal column and upper lip defect.

classification:

Mild saddle nose is once: the bridge of the nose is low and the tip of the nose is more than a certain height.

Moderate saddle nose is three degrees: the nose is obviously sunken, the nose is wide, the two nostrils are facing the sky, the tip of the nose and the nasal column are low, and the length of the nose is short.

Severe saddle nose is four degrees: the nasal back is severely depressed, almost no nasal bridge, external nasal bone structure, nasal septal cartilage and nasal mucosa are deformed.
