Tonsil cancer

Introduction

Introduction to tonsil cancer Tonsil cancer is a common malignant tumor of the tonsil, which is closely related to smoking and drinking. Usually the first symptom is sore throat, which is often radiated to the ear. The spread of cancer to the cervical lymph nodes can cause a mass in the neck that can occur before other symptoms. Early symptoms are not obvious, only pharyngeal discomfort, foreign body sensation or mild pain. Apparent sore throat can be used in the advanced stage, exacerbated when swallowed, and can be radiated to the ipsilateral ear or face. There are often symptoms such as bad breath, bleeding and difficulty in opening the mouth. The tonsillar tissue can be diagnosed by pathological examination. Because alcohol and smoking can cause other cancers, laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy, and esophagoscopy should be performed. Treatment includes radiation therapy and surgery. Surgery should remove the entire tonsil, cervical lymph nodes and part of the jaw. 50% of patients can survive for 5 years. basic knowledge The proportion of illness: 0.052% Susceptible people: no specific people Mode of infection: non-infectious Complications: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Cause

Causes of tonsillar cancer

The cause is not known and may be related to factors such as smoking and drinking.

Prevention

Tonsil cancer prevention

Early symptoms of tonsil cancer are mild and easily overlooked. Anyone over the age of 40, long-term pharyngeal discomfort, foreign body sensation, persistent mild sore throat, and patients with symptoms worsened by anti-inflammatory treatment should be suspected of having tonsil cancer. A detailed examination must be made to make an early diagnosis and early treatment.

Complication

Tonsil cancer complications Complications, nasopharyngeal carcinoma

May cause some cancerous changes in the nasopharynx.

Symptom

Tonsil cancer symptoms common symptoms pharyngeal burning pain tonsil hypertrophy dysphagia dyspnea difficult mouth neck lymph node enlargement pharyngeal foreign body sensation

1. Early symptoms are not obvious, only use pharyngeal discomfort, foreign body sensation or mild pain. Apparent sore throat can be used in the advanced stage, exacerbated when swallowed, and can be radiated to the ipsilateral ear or face. There are often symptoms such as bad breath, bleeding and difficulty in opening the mouth.

2. One side of the tonsil is obviously swollen, nodular or cauliflower-like, or has ulcers, necrosis and pseudomembrane on the surface. The tumor develops rapidly, often invading surrounding tissues, and there are swallowing and breathing disorders.

3. Early common cervical lymph node metastasis, ipsilateral or bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy, hard and fixed.

Examine

Examination of tonsillar cancer

Tonsil biopsy cancer cells should be used for laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy, and esophagoscopy.

One side of the tonsil is obviously swollen, the surface is ulcerated, not smooth or nodular bulge, the touch is hard, easy to bleed, and the tonsils adhere to the surrounding tissue. Under the ipsilateral mandibular angle, swollen lymph nodes can be touched, hard and inactive, and no tenderness.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis and diagnosis of tonsillar cancer

Diagnose based on

1. According to the above three symptoms and signs.

2. The tonsils live to check cancer cells.

In adults, unilateral tonsils are swollen, the surface is ulcerated, the texture is hard, inactive, accompanied by swelling of the lymph nodes below the ipsilateral mandibular angle, and the diagnosis is easy. However, if one side of the tonsil is swollen and has a smooth surface, it is easy to be misdiagnosed as acute tonsillitis. It should be especially vigilant. If necessary, take a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
